Almost settled.....

Here is the hive in place - just needing to be straightened up and to have the straps removed and the lids put in place etc etc.....the winter lid has plenty of ventilation because it's condensation and moisture that kills bees in winter....we checked on them after their journey and they were buzzing about but were fine - just wondering what was going on :)

This morning they are doing fine - quiet in the hive - you can hear them deep inside but thats about it :)

So cool to watch the process of you winterizing them!

They'll stay in there all winter??? I thought most bees died off during winter - hence the shortage of bees.

Hello Jane - really interesting bee blog - thank you ! I find it so cool to compare notes with beekeepers in the northern hemisphere, being in the Pacific we don`t overwinter hives, in fact where I live in New Zealand I don`t have to feed them either, I make sure I leave plenty of honey on and with our mild temperatures the girls can fly on good days.I will pop in and catch up with you regularly and would like it if you caught up with my blog.

I've just been reading and catching up on how the bees are doing and they sound like they are doing great (well I'm sure that's because they have the most awesome beekeeper of course!!) hehe I have finished Twilight (it was awesome!!) and have started the 2nd book. I hope it's as good as the first!! I see the movie is coming out right away now too eh?
